Students Jump from First Floor Mistaking Road Roller Sound for Earthquake

In a startling incident in Punjab, Pakistan, students mistook the sound and vibrations from a road roller for an earthquake, causing panic and leading to injuries. The incident occurred at a government girls' school in Jahanian, Khanewal district, located 350 kilometers from Lahore, where road construction work was underway nearby.

The noise and vibrations from the road roller alarmed some students in a classroom, who believed it to be an earthquake. They immediately alerted their classmates, resulting in chaos. With no teacher present in the classroom at the time, some students ran outside via the stairs.

However, eight girls, aged between 12 and 14, fearing the building might collapse, jumped out of a first-floor window. They sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Officials reported that three of the students are in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that the incident was caused by the students mistaking the road roller's noise for an earthquake. At the time of the incident, there were 20 students in the classroom.
