Amaravati Capital: Andhra Pradesh Government Files Affidavit in Supreme Court
After the recent state elections, the newly formed coalition government officially declared Amaravati as the only capital and commenced development projects accordingly. Chief Secretary Neerab Kumar Prasad filed the affidavit, emphasizing the government’s dedication to implementing the capital’s master plan and fulfilling all legal obligations to farmers who surrendered land under the land pooling scheme.
The government pledged to complete infrastructure development and deliver returnable plots with full amenities to farmers within three years. It also assured adherence to the High Court's previous verdicts and any future directives from the Supreme Court.
In light of these commitments, the Andhra Pradesh government requested the Supreme Court to conclude hearings on the pending Special Leave Petition (SLP) related to the capital issue, maintaining that it respects judicial directives.
