6 universities to come up in AP

Hyderabad, Feb 23: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced here today that his government was planning to establish six new universities in the state. The six proposed universities are Water University, Energy University, Aquaculture University, Hospitality University, Sports University and Logistics University. Chandrababu Naidu informed this when Australian Consul General, South India Sean Kelly called on him. During their discussions, the Australian Consul General is believed to have informed Naidu that his country was interested in working with AP in the areas of dairy industry, aquaculture, mining, healthcare management, logistics, gas and energy sector, skill development, sports, human resources, pension funds and education. He also informed Naidu that Australia can work with AP in the field of sustainable fisheries management. Naidu is believed to have stated that his government's aim was to make AP as the aquaculture capital of the world in addition to a marine processing hub of India. He then said, “We want to make the state number one in terms of processing capacity, value addition and highest exports of seafood.” Since AP is strong in pharmaceutical sector, Kelly is reported to have said his government could like to collaborate in Intellectual Property (IP) and medical research. Kelly the reportedly invited Naidu to visit Australia and participate in the major Seafood Convention in Perth in October this year. Naidu accepted the invitation. Naidu apparently said he could send a delegation of ministers and officials to Australia before the October event to study the country’s aquaculture industry, CMO informed.
