Undavalli warns Naidu against forcible land pooling

Guntur, Feb 12, 2015: Launching a lethal attack on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, senior Congress leader and former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar on Thursday threatened to take to legal recourse if the capital region farmers are forced to lose their lands. Speaking to reporters here after touring the capital region and meeting the farmers who are not willing to give their lands for capital city, Undavalli said land pooling had nowhere become controversial in the country as in AP. "I spoke to several farmers who are unwilling to part with their fertile lands. They are really terrified," he said, adding that all lands in the capital region are fertile throughout the year. Saying that it is not correct to forcibly take away lands from unwilling farmers, he questioned the rationale behind the decision of the Government to construct capital city in a fertile land. Reminding Chandrababu that he had become CM by winning only one percent extra votes than YSRCP as his period was good, Undavalli asked the Chief Minister not to take away land forcibly from farmers. "If necessary, I will approach a court of law to prevent forcible land pooling, " he said, adding that he would ask various parties to take up discussion on the issue in Parliament.
