Centre refuses to grant Rs 20K for AP Capital City
New Delhi, Feb 8, 2015: The Centre has reportedly refused to release a blanket fund of Rs. 20,000 Cr as sought by AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for the construction of the capital city. The response of the Centre to the state government's plea to sanction a whopping Rs.20,000 Cr came as a rude shock to Chandrababu whose dream of constructing a world class capital city may not be fulfilled. In a communication sent to the AP Government, the Centre made it clear it does not have that much funds to spare for the construction of the Capital city. Instead, the Centre has asked the government to furnish a list of important structures to be constructed such as the assembly building, Raj Bhavan, Secretariat and the like. However, an undeterred Chandrababu, who is now in Delhi, has decided to lobby further with the Centre to ensure more funds are allotted to the AP for the construction of the Capital city.
