AP Govt to purchase solar power generated on house tops

Hyderabad, Feb 2, 2015: In a move to encourage solar energy sector, the AP Government has said it will buy solar power generated on individual house tops at Rs.5.25 per unit. The AP Cabinet , which met here this morning, approved a decision to this affect. The government hopes to generate 38,500 MW of power if the thousands of households come forward to arrange solar power panels on rooftops of their houses and produce power. It is not yet known whether the Government will offer any subsidy or concessions for the households opting to produce power through solar panels.
