Kolkata to go Wi-Fi in two months under PPP model
Kolkata, Jan 28, 2015: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Wednesday here that Kolkata will become a complete Wi-Fi city in the next two months. The city has 144 Corporation Divisions and to begin with, the Wi-Fi services would be launched from Park Street division from Feb 5, she told reporters. The Trinamul Congress Government has decided to provide Wi-Fi services in collaboration with some private companies under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. When the Wi-Fi services are extended to all divisions, Kolkata will become the first city in India to go Wi-Fi completely. While Mumbai city is planning to provide free Wi-Fi services to its denizens in the next four to five months, the Wi-Fi services are already made available in some parts of Bengaluru city. In Hyderabad, the services are available in some limited areas of the Hi Tech city now.
