IPL scam: SC sets up 3-member panel to to decide quantum of punishment
New Delhi, Jan 22: The Supreme Court of India has on Thursday set up a 3-member panel comprising ex-CJI R.M. Lodha, retired SC judges Ashok Bhan and R.V. Raveendran, who will to decide on the quantum of punishment against sidelined BCCI chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals’ Raj Kundra for their involvement in betting. Prior to the forming of the three member committee the Supreme Court framed seven questions on which it had passed its verdict in the IPL betting scam case. The SC also ruled that a Bench of Justices T.S. Thakur and Fakir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla will decide the legal validity of the amendment to rule 6.2.4 BCCI rules in February 2008. Finally, the SC reserved the case for final orders in December this year and went on to say that “heavens will not fall” if cricket officials did not own IPL teams.
