Air India pilot attacks flight engineer, locks himself up in cockpit

Chennai, Jan 17: In a cockpit fight, an Air India pilot named Manicklal is said to have attackd his flight engineer named Kannan onboard the Chennai-Paris flight AI 143 Saturday morning, initial reports suggest. The reports said Manicklal and Kannan reportedly had an argument over the delay in the departure of the flight. Following which, Manicklal attacked Kannan. With a bleeding nose, Kannan was taken to a hospital. Meanwhile, Manicklal, who locked himself up inside the cockpit, was evicted and taken for medical examination. The AI flight, carrying 142 passengers onboard, flew off after a delay of two-hours. Later, reports said, Kannan was insisting on filing a police complaint. Officials then said a probe has been ordered into the incident.
