New Lanka president to make 1st overseas visit to India

Colombo, Jan 10: The newly-elected President of Sri Lanka Maithripala Sirisena is expected to make his first overseas State visit to India, according to sources. Sources said that India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called Sirisena soon after the latter's poll win to congratulate him. According to Rajitha Senaratne, senior politician and spokesman of Sirisena, Modi is said to have invited the new Lankan President to visit to India first. Apparently, the visit is likely to be scheduled for February, sources added.
