Police arrest 30 RTC drivers for nexus with red sanders smugglers
eKadapa,Jan 6, 2015: Kadapa police have arrested 30 RTC drivers for their collusion with red sanders smugglers and ferrying Tamil Nadu tree cutters into AP forests for money. 13 drivers of Nandyala depot, 12 of Allgadda depot and 5 of Atmakur depot have been arrested by Police for their collusion with smugglers and bringing the cutters into various places of Kadapa district. Kadapa Superintendent of Police Navin Gulati told journalists that the drivers used to earn Rs. 3000 each per day for allowing the cutters into their buses at Koyambeedu bus station in Tamil Nadu and dropping them at Balupally forest area in Railway Koduru Mandalam of AP. While allowing the cutters into their buses, the RTC drivers used to ward off the ordinary passengers on the pretext of non-availability of seats. This is not the first time that RTC drivers were arrested for their connivance with red sanders smugglers. Police had arrested 12 RTC drivers three weeks ago for joining hands with red sanders smugglers.
