Gold up Rs 140; silver by Rs 515

New Delhi, Jan 5: For the second straight day, gold prices advanced by Rs 140 to Rs 27,300 per 10 gram at the bullion market in New Delhi on Monday due to overseas cues and increased purchasing by retailers and jewellers to meet demand during the wedding season. Silver too recovered by Rs 515 to settle at Rs 36,750 per kg due to increased offtake by coin makers and industrial units. Sovereign, however, continues to be traded at Rs 23,700 per piece of eight gram.
