Ilayaraja serves legal notice on director Shankar for using his song

Chennai, Jan 4, 2015: Veteran music director Ilayaraja has served a legal notice to well known Kollywood director Shankar for reportedly copying one of his songs in his movie 'Kappal. The notice says that his song 'Vuru Vittu Vuru Vandu...' composed for the movie ' Karagatakkaran' some years ago was used in the movie 'Kappal' directed by Kartik G. Krish, who worked as assistant director once with Shankar. This movie was released by S.Pictures owned by director Shankar. Ilayaraja told Shankar that there was a court order in force to the effect that songs composed by him should not be used by any other director or producer with out his permission. Asking Shankar and the original producer of the movie Jayaram to pay compensation for using his song without his permission in their movie, he also asked them to remove it immediately or else face suit for damages.
