Plan panel to be renamed ‘Niti Ayog’
New Delhi, Jan 1: The central government is all set to rename the 60-year-old Planning Commission as ‘Niti Ayog’. This move is part of the plan to restructure the apex planning institution and comes months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the body will soon be replaced by a new organisation. Earlier, Modi had questioned the role and relevance of the plan panel and then held discussions with all the chief ministers on the issue. Most of whom had favoured the restructuring of the plan body.
