New Year’s gift: Petrol, diesel prices to get cheaper
New Delhi, Dec 31: The state-run oil marketing companies are likely to cut the prices of petrol and diesel with effect from midnight Wednesday, according to official sources. The officials said the central government has been pushing the oil marketing companies to transfer the benefit of falling international prices to consumers. However, the officials said, the price cuts may not be sharp as the gains to the international slump in oil markets have more or less been nullified due to depreciation in the rupee.
