Justice Lakshmana Reddy asks farmers not to give lands for capital

Hyderabad, Dec 31, 2014: Jana Chaitanya Vedika president and former judge of the united AP High Court Justice Lakshmana Reddy on Wednesday called upon the farmers not to give away their lands for the construction of the AP capital city. Addressing farmers' associations, intellectuals and representatives of political parties at a round table meeting organised on land pooling for AP Capital city here, Justice Lakshmana Reddy said farmers should not lose their fertile lands that can grow multi-crops for the sake of capital city. Demanding the state government to compensate the farmers who have suffered huge losses in the blaze, he sought strict punishment for the culprits who resorted to the arson. He said the Centre has also cheated the farmers by amending the Land Acquisition Act.
