Why can’t teachers work 8 hours a day? Asks Botcha
Vijayawada, July 27: Education Minister Botcha Satyanarayana said the government has taken up the merger of schools to build a strong foundation for students at primary level. Speaking with the media after releasing AP EAPCET-2022 in Vijayawada on Tuesday, he questioned the teachers as to why cant they work for eight hours.
Botcha wondered, “How do I know the inner feelings of the teachers, who are protesting? We can help them in the issues related to their jobs. But it’s wrong to say the schools’ merger is not good.” He asked the teachers to suggest alternate idea.
The Minister said that he suggested that every school must have a headmaster and a PET and that teachers must work for eight hours. As per the new educational policy, special teacher is being appointed from third class, he said and added that everyone is praising the government policies but TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu alone is criticizing the policies. He observed that Naidu’s suggestion to appoint one teacher from first to fifth class is not a good idea.
Botcha requested Chandrababu to suggest better ideas and will accept them without any inhibitions. He explained that they have received objections from 400 schools while 5,800 schools were mapped. A committee was formed with the Joint Collectors of respective districts and a decision will be taken after the committee submits report, he added.
