Telangana Govt to scrap Nandi title , working on new name

Hyderabad, Dec 29, 2014: Telangana commercial taxes and cinematography minister Talasani Srinivasa Yadav told reporters here today that the Government has decided to change the name of Nandi Awards given every year to the outstanding movies in Telugu. He said Chief Minister KCR has three names in mind and a decision will be soon taken on the new name. Assuring that Government will take all necessary steps to strengthen the Telugu film industry in Hyderabad, the minister said there are two to three groups in the film industry. It would be better if the industry works together, he added. Speaking about the commercial taxes revenue, he said some gold shops are avoiding taxes in Hyderabad. "We have stepped up vigil on such shops," he disclosed, adding that some dealers of rubber and coconut products are too avoiding payment of taxes.
