Guntur, June 13: Protesting assault on TDP sympathiser Venkayamma and his son by the YSRCP workers, the TDP on Monday gave ‘Chalo Kanteru’ call.
However, the police foiled the attempt by placing the TDP leaders under house arrest in the district. At several places, the TDP functionaries heading to Kanteru village on vehicles were intercepted by police and took them into custody. Cops in large number deployed in Kanteru and Tadikonda to ensure law and order.
Former MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar criticised the police for not allowing him to go to party office in Guntur and putting him under house arrest.
Talking to a reporter, former minister and TDP politburo member Nakka Anand Babu faulted the cops for being silent when the YSRCP goons tried to assault Venkayamma in their presence. He alleged that the ruling party leaders will kill her for speaking against the YSRCP government. Local TDP leaders were present.
