TTD bracing up for Vaikunta Ekadasi, New Year Day
Tirumala, Dec 23, 2014: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam is gearing up to meet the New Year rush of devotees on January 1, 2015 that coincides with the Vaikunta Ekadasi. Vaikunta Ekadasi is the most sacred day for the devotees of Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the temple town will witness lakhs of devotees turning up for the occasion. Hindu puranas say that those who would have the Darshan of the Lord on Vaikunta Ekadasi will get their souls liberated. Joint Executive officer KS Sreenivasa Raju held a high level meeting with police officials this morning and reviewed security arrangements for the mega event. There will be a flood of devotees on Tirumala beginning midnight of Dec 31 and the temple town police have decided to beef up security at all key points on the seven hills.
