DMK leader joins BJP

Chennai, Dec 21: DMK leader and former union minister D. Napoleon joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah here Sunday. Napoleon had resigned from the DMK Saturday. He was a minister in the Congress-led UPA government, reports said. On Saturday, music director Gangai Amaran joined the BJP, reports said. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making a serious bid to take power in Tamil Nadu by leading an alliance in the 2016 assembly elections, its president Amit Shah said Sunday. The announcement was made on a day Napolean joined the BJP. Shah said the BJP would mobilise 60 lakh new members in Tamil Nadu and it would be the largest party in the state in 2016.
