AIIMS at Mangalagiri in 3 years: Minister
Vijayawada, Dec 21: The central experts committee is believd to have expressed its satisfaction on the site proposed for the establishment of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri town in Guntur district, according to Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas.
The Health Minister then said the foundation for the construction of an AIIMS at Mangalagiri could be laid by January end and the project is likely to be completed in about three years.
The four-member committee on Sunday visited Mangalagiri to check the facilities available in the town, the minister said and added that the panel members are in favour of establishing AIIMS in Mangalagiri, which is close to Guntur.
Andhra Pradesh government is reported to have earmarked 193 acres of land near Mangalagiri for establishing AIIMS.
