Rupee weaker at 62.33/Dollar

Mumbai, Dec 11: The Indian rupee has tumbled to its lowest in nine months. The partially convertible rupee closed weaker at 62.33/34 per dollar. Earlier, it fell to as low as 62.3575, a level that was last seen on February 20. To contain the rupee's fall, the Reserve Bank of India sold dollars via state-owned banks around Rs 62.3575 per dollar, traders said. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold Indian equity derivatives worth Rs 1,915 crore on Wednesday, which also weighed on the rupee. The rupee's fall comes as shares fell on Thursday due to a decline in regional shares.
