Road connectivity to all tribal habitations by next fiscal: KCR
Hyderabad, Dec 11: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced on Thursday that by the next fiscal all the 260 tribal habitations across the state, which lacked approach roads, would get connected under a special package. He assured that a tribal will get the Tribal Welfare portfolio in the next Cabinet expansion. The chief minister was addressing a gathering of tribals from nine districts of the state other than those from the State capital. He earlier laid the foundation stones for a Banjara Bhavan and a Komaram Bheem Adivasi Bhavan on Road No. 10 in Banjara Hills area. Referring to the deaths in tribal habitations due to viral fevers and other diseases, KCR said his government will soon be forming a 500-strong Task Force comprising medical experts and cultural troupes. The Task Force teams would be mandated to spread out into the remote tribal habitations of the nine districts for treating patients and building awareness on the importance of nutrition, medical precautions to be taken and the need to do away with blind beliefs and superstitions. KCR then said soon all women tribals would get three acres of land like he had announced for the 'Dalits'. “Not only that, we will ensure that you get the borewell, motor and the expenditure that you need for tilling the land and the first year's crop,” he announced. On the issue of reservations of 12 per cent for the STs, the chief minister said soon a high-level committee will be set up with a sitting High Court Judge to look into the modalities.
