AP cabinet approves compensation packages for acquiring land in capital region
Hyderabad, Dec 6: Andhra Pradesh Cabinet here on Saturday has finally approved the guidelines to acquire land and develop the new capital city region, informed sources said. The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, also decided on the compensation, relief and rehabilitation packages for acquiring land to build the new capital of the state. According to sources, Chandrababu is expected to announce the details of the compensation packages after holding discussions with farmers. Earlier on Saturday, the cabinet committee finalised the compensation packages for buying land and presented the same at the cabinet meeting for approval. The cabinet committee meeting was chaired by Minister Narayana, the sources said. According to the sources, the committee is reported to have divided the lands to be acquired in the capital region into three categories and allocated packages category wise. Owners of lands under the ayacut of Krishna river are likely to get 1100 sq yards of residential land, 200 sq yards of commercial land and an annual compensation of Rs 50,000 per annum as compensation, sources revealed. For lands under the lift irrigation schemes, the land owners are to get 1100 sq yards of land for residential use, 100 sq yards for commercial use. Owners of irrigated dry lands are to get a compensation of 800 sq yards of residential space and 100 sq yards of commercial land, the sources disclosed. Additionally, Rs 30,000 per annum is expected to be given to them as compensation. The state government is expected to acquire a total of 51786 acres of land for constructing the new capital, of which 38,000 acres would be acquired in the first phase, the sources said. The entire process is likely to begin as per CRDA Ordinance from December 15, sources said.
