NTPC to expand power plants in TS
Hyderabad, Dec 3: National Thermal Poser Corporation (NTPC) is reported to have approached the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest seeking amendments to the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the corporation's proposed expansion at Ramagundam power plant to 2x800 mw. Senior officials of the company said in the past the power producer was permitted to expand the capacity to 2x660 mw. At present, NTPC is operating a coal-fired 2600 MW (Stage-I, II & III) Thermal Power Station at Ramagundam in Karimnagar District of Telangana. Officials said the expansion project will need an estimated as 7.37 MTPA (20197 tonnes per day) of coal to achieve 90 per cent PLF.
