Interlinking of rivers: Naidu asks centre to first implement it in AP

New Delhi, Nov 21: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that his state was ideal for implementing the project to interlink rivers and tapping their water for productive purposes. Chandrababu Naidu was speaking at 'Jala Mathan' meeting in Delhi on Friday. Stating that Andhra Pradesh is the lower riparian state, the chief minister said water from Godavari after Rajamuhdry, from Krishna after Vijayawada, Pennar and Vamshadhar water flow into the sea, he said once the interlinking of rivers takes off in AP water can be used to cultivate 101 lakh acres of cultivable land. Therefore, he urged the central government to first implement the project in Andhra Pradesh and then spread it to other states so that problems do not occur.
