New rail line to link Hyderabad, Karimnagar

Hyderabad, Nov 20: The Railway Board has agreed to lay the Manoharabad-Kottapally new railway line in a phased manner, confirmed Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar here on Thursday. Vinod Kumar along with special representatives of the Telangana government in New Delhi S. Venugopala Chary and Ramachandrudu had met Railway Board officials on Wednesday. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had submitted the proposals way back in 2004, after being elected from Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency. Vinod Kumar said after lengthy discussions the Railway Board officials agreed to take up the work. The new railway line will be passing through Gajwel (represented by KCR), Siddipet (Minister T. Harish Rao) and Sircilla (Minister K.T. Rama Rao). It will provide a direct railway link from Secunderabad via Manoharabad to Karimnagar city covering Gajwel, Siddipet, Vemulavada and then reach Kottapally. This will provide railway travel facility to many areas in Medak and Karimnagar districts, which were till now uncovered. Since there is already a railway line from Karimnagar to Pedapalli, introduction of more services to Delhi route would be possible, delinking the Hyderabad-Kazipet route.
