TS to increase digital literacy: KTR
Hyderabad, May.15: IT Minister KT Rama Rao today said that youngest state of Telangana is number one in the country in cashless transactions and providing e-governance services to the people. The Telangana State is treading fast in the IT sector and making rapid strides at national level, he said.    
The Minister addressed the 9th anniversary of IT and Communication department at HICC here. Speaking on the occasion the minister stated that the government is trying its best to make at least one member of a family to become digitally literate as part of digital program. The Government, he said, will provide safe and potable waters to rural population. Indeed, the TRS Government has taken up the flagship program of Mission Bhagiratha to provide safe drinking waters to every household also fiber grid broadband internet services simultaneousl,y KTR said. ‘We will provide basic amenities to the people who are ought to get’ he said.

            The IT Minister proudly announced that the state government is all set to launch a comprehensive new policy for digital literary promotion in a big way. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is keen on promoting IT sector and its related companies and expand its services to the forefront of the people.  The IT Minister also said that they are working out a plan to install 3000 public wi-fi hotspots and 1000 will be set up by June end. Telangana witnessed the highest number of online transactions post demonetization,  he said.

            Telangana is the first state to promote digital and cashless transactions in the wake of demonetisation across the nation. As per technology is concerned T –Hub in Hyderabad is the biggest center in the country with 200 start up companies,  he claimed. The IT Minister said that entrepreneurs are being encouraged through this T Hub which is in the forefront to encourage them to come up with new ideas. Efforts are being made to see that the youth get boost in future to get jobs and employment opportunities through the T Hub and start  up companies. Telangana is occupying second position in the country in open data policy offering seamless services to the people through 4000 customer service centers, KTR said.

            He said the government is also actively collaborating with ICRISAT on a lot of initiatives, adding that one important initiative is the digital agriculture initiative, which aims to provide technology solutions to our farmers
