Hyderabad City stood first in Swatch Survekshan
Hyderabad, May.4: In Swachh Survekshan 2017 Rankings Hyderabad city stood 1st among the most populous metro cities viz., Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata.
Among 500 cities (ranking awarded to 434 cities only) GHMC is ranked 22 where as last year it stood 19th among 73 cities.
As the highest populated city with vast extent GHMC faced certain disadvantages like availability of less number of public toilets, though we are trying since last 3 years to fill the gap. Though we made a reasonable progress in construction of Individual Household Toilets, proportionate marks were not given compared to those cities who Sanctioned less no of toilets and declared their city ODF(Open Defecation Free).
The GHMC has taken various measures to keep the city clean as part of swatch survekshan. The measures including distribution of twin bins of over 44 lakh, swatch auto tippers, novel idea of “ unite the family-divide the waste”.
The GHMC authorities have introduced 2000 swatch auto tippers replacing tricycles to increase the collection of efficiency of waste and better sanitation.
