‘Mahanati’ probably will be a multi-starrer
Nag Ashwin, son-in-law of senior producer Ashwini Dutt, and husband of Priyanka Dutt, had earlier directed a film titled ‘Yevade Subrahmanyam’ and the film did well at the Box Office. With the confidence of a hit film to his credit, he is getting ready to bring out a film based on the biography of senior Telugu actress and Sahaja Nati (natural actress) Savitri. Most of the people of earlier generation do know well about Savitri as they watched many of her films and they also felt sorry for the sorrowful end to her story.
The director chose Keerthi Suresh for the title role, while Samantha is reportedly playing the role of a journalist who narrates the story of the legendary actress. It appears that there will be many inclusions of star actors in the film and probably it would be a multi-starrer as well. As per the latest information some top film personalities of the Telugu film industry such as Anushka and Prakash Raj were also contacted and were roped in the movie to play key roles.
It is not yet clear as to who would play the all important Gemini Ganeshan role in the movie. However, the director did not reveal as to why he selected Anushka and Prakash Raj and what roles these seasoned artistes would play in the movie. Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt are producing this heavy budget film while Aswanidutt would present the movie on the banner of Vyjayanti Movies.
