TS to spend Rs 10,000cr to develop roads in state: KCR

Hyderabad, Nov 7: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao Friday announced that his government has decided to spend Rs 10,000 crores to repair existing roads and develop new roads across the state in the next couple of years. The announcement came after the chief minister approved the recommendations of the cabinet sub-committee that was set up to study the feasibility of repairing existing roads and developing new roads in the state. As part of the decision, the Department of Roads and Buildings has been mandated to lay 14,500 km of new BT roads across the state. In addition, the chief minister has instructed the officials concerned to improve the existing roads. He also announced that another 3,850 km of roads will be developed with an allocation of Rs 5,000 crores under the Department of Panchayati Raj. He further directed the officials to recall all those staff of Panchayati Raj who had gone on deputation to other departments.
