AP to begin pilot irrigation project under Harita Scheme

Hyderabad, Nov 7: In a major initiative, Andhra Prdesh government is planning to spend a few thousand crores under Harita Projects to improve irrigation facilities to encourage farmers to go for three crops in a year. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday took this decision after holding discussions with top officials of the agriculture, irrigation and revenue departments in Hyderabad. He directed the officials to initially implement this as a pilot project in three districts in the state benefiting 30, 000 farmers. Instructing the officials to provide all possible assistance to farmers in the state, the chief minister is reported to have said that no farmer should suffer during his rule. Stating that farmers in AP had lost their crops due to cyclone impact, the chief minister had instructed the officials to extend all technical assistance to the farmers to recover from their losses.
