10 TDP legislators face one-day suspension from TS assembly

Hyderabad, Nov 7: The Speaker of Telangana Legislative Assembly Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary Friday suspended 10 Telugu Desam Party legislators for one day. The suspension was the outcome of the pandemonium created by the protesting MLAs of both the TDP and the Congress party on the second day of the budget session of the Telangana assembly on the issues of shortage of power generation and farm suicides. Especially, TDP legislators initially raised slogans and later rushed to the well of the House disrupting and stalling the proceedings during the question hour of the budget session of the assembly despite Speaker's appeal for peace. Senior leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao and A Revanth Reddy were among the 10 suspended TDP MLAs, who later condemned the action of the speaker. Earlier, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, in his speech, said that he was ready to offer the legislators of the opposition parties enough time to express their opinions. During the question hour, Errabelli Dayakar Rao urged the speaker for a discussion on farmers' suicides as people were interested in knowing the reasons and as to what actions the Telangana government was taking to solve the farmers' problems. While speaking in the assembly, floor leader of All India Majlis-e Ittihad al-Muslimen in the Telangana assembly Akbaruddin Owaisi termed the protests of the opposition parties as a drama. Immediately, senior Congress leader Jana Reddy demanded that Owaisi should withdraw his comments.
