New Year Eve: Indians Sent 14 Billion WhatsApp Messages

Facebook-owned social media giant WhatsApp announced that on the eve of New Year, Indians exchanged 14 billion messages through its platform.

This is a new record, which beat last year Diwali's 8 billion record in one day.

On the new year occasion, 3.1 Billion images, 610 million videos and 700 million GIF images were sent on WhatsaApp.

In India, WhatsApp has 160 million active monthly users.
