So Far 586 IT Raids, Seized Rs.318 Cr
New Delhi : Since the notes ban, there have been over 586 Income Tax raids across the country to trace the black money. But surprisingly crores of new Rs.2000 have been found with the black money holders.
According to the latest IT (Income Tax) department information so far 586 raids were performed and seized over Rs.318cr, in which they found more than Rs.79cr new currency notes.
Sources said that serial numbers of the new Rs.2000 notes had helped the investigating teams to track the channel. Along with serial numbers CCTV footage has also rendered significant assistance in the investigation.
It has become a big puzzle to common man to crack how bundles of new currency notes are being routed out of the banks. Almost everyday images of new notes stacked up after raids are being shown in media.
For hoarding black money an RBI officer was arrested in Bengaluru. TTD member Sekhar Reddy was arrested for having huge amount of black money and gold. Similarly, Guwahati's businessman posses around Rs. 1.55 crore in new Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 500 currency notes.
