Noble deed of parents of brain dead youth

Hyderabad, Oct.19: A brain dead youth's family was brave enough to donate all the important organs of his body in Vijayawada and heart and liver were rushed to Hyderabad within two hours on Wednesday. Vamsikrishna of Jaggayyapet in Krishna district, working at Mandava Engineering College fell sick on Monday. He was undergoing treatment for high fever and severe headache at Andhra Hospital in Vijayawada. His condition worsened and was declared brain dead on Wednesday morning. However, showing grit and resolve in the hour of grief, Vamsikrishna's parents, Venugopal Rao and Rajeshwari came forward to donate all the useful parts of their son's body through Jeevan Dan Trust. While the two eyeballs were donated to Vasan Eye Hospital, two kidneys were given to two different hospitals in Vijayawada. The heart and liver being highly sophisticated, were sent to Hyderabad through a green channel from the hospital to Gannavaram airport. A green channel is arranged in this kind of situations to ensure the entire route is clear during the transit by stopping all other traffic. After the body parts arrived in Hyderabad through a special flight, the heart was sent to Apollo hospital and the liver was donated to Yashoda hospital.
