Six-year old drowns in HMR pit; L&T to pay Rs 4 lakh to kin
Hyderabad, Oct.13: A boy died after falling in a pit dug for Metro Rail Pillar at Old Gandhi Hospital area, Secunderabad. According to details, a widow, along with her six-year old boy Narsimha used to sell clothes on footpath at Old Gandhi Hospital. On Thursday afternoon, the boy fell into the metro pillar pit filled with water while playing near the pit. After some time, the mother found the body floating in the pit. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the Gandhi Hospital and the doctors declared brought him dead. The locals expressed anger at the Metro officials alleging that they behaved negligently. Responding to the incident, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav spoke to Metro Rail Managing Director NVS Reddy over phone and directed him to extend help to the family of the boy. Later, NVS Reddy spoke to representatives of the L&T Company, which agreed to pay Rs.4 lakh ex gratia to the family of the deceased boy.
