KCR Says ‘As of Now 31 Districts’
Hyderabad, Oct.9: Even as the Cabinet meeting chaired by him approved to launch 21 new districts on Dasara festival day, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here on Sunday hinted at the change of their number if his words are to be believed. During a press conference in Warangal, the chief minister said that they now think that the figure of total districts is 31. However, he did not make it clear whether the total number is just 31 and nothing beyond that. ‘As of now we are thinking that the total districts are 31’, he said. The government is likely to issue a notification on Monday in this regard. Recently, they conducted a Cabinet meeting and discussed on the new districts elaborately, he said. However the Cabinet did not clarify on the actual number of districts. The Keshava Rao committee submitted a report to KCR after taking objections and suggestions on the formation of four new districts Gadwal, Siricilla, Janagaon, and Asifabad. However, the Cabinet did not clarify whether 21 new districts will be launched. Ambiguity is that KCR is reportedly planning to launch 23 new districts, instead of 21, to make his ‘magic figure’ six by increasing total districts to 33. Referring to CPM Mahajana Padayatra and comments on new districts, he asked the people to pull them up and question the leaders for coming in the way of new districts and Telangana development. From the beginning, the CPM opposed statehood, and it is foolishness to take up protests for the cause of the farmers. The farmers are busy for the second crop; the leaders are involved in useless politics, he remarked. The Congress is trying to oppose every program of the government and indulging in double standards for political mileage, he charged. He also said that the schemes would be implemented perfectly after the formation of new districts. Nominated posts will be filled up soon, KCR said.
