Govt Not Taking Note of Spurious Seeds: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad, Sept.30: Telangana TDP today alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has failed to make the State as a “Seed Bowl “ in the Country. KCR had promised that measures would be taken to ensure bumper stock of seeds in the state, said party working president A Revanth Reddy and MLA Sandra Venkatveeraiah here. Speaking to the media, they alleged that the chief minister had forgotten his promise and the government is not at all bothered when farmers faced severe losses due to the supply of spurious seeds. They demanded that the government should take responsibility for loss of crops. The government should file cases under PD act against those who are selling poor quality seeds, the TDP leaders said and added that the farmers have incurred heavy losses and steeped in debts due to the failure of crops because of the inferior quality of seeds. Many families of farmers were ruined because of spurious seeds and they were agitating, but the Government and the officials of agriculture department were not taking note of it. Private money lenders were harassing them to repay the loans.
