Political JAC wants Mallannasagar height reduced

Political scientist Prof. G. Hargopal on Tuesday opined that there were many flaws in the Mallannasagar project reservoir design. Prof. Haragopal was speaking at a round-table organized by Telangana Atmagourava Sabha on the Mallannasagar project here at Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Baghlingampally. The discussion was on “Whether Mallanna Sagar is necessary? For Whom is Mallanna Sagar?” Prof. Haragopal demanded that the State government construct projects keeping in mind the interests of the public. The Mallanasagar reservoir’s height should be reduced instead of 560 feet proposed. He suggested to the government to shed its adamant attitude on the project. World renowned irrigation expert and chief engineer T. Hanumanth Rao gave a technical presentation on Mallanna Sagar. He opined there was no need of this project. Representatives of Mallannasagar submergence victims JAC released a fact-finding report “50 TMCla Kanneellu – Evarikosam Mallanna Sagar? Telangana JAC chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram, Vimalakka and others were present.
