Use of Telangana dialect in films isn't to make fun of it: Tanikella Bharani

Comedy Star Tanikella Bharani has clarified that the use of Telangana dialect in Telugu films is not with a view to making fun of it, but the lack of understanding in using it makes it rather humorous. Talking to the media in Khammam, Bharani further clarified that not one in the film industry had any animus against Telangana as such. Bharani, who was born and brought up in Secunderabad and studied in a working class school, is native to Telangana dialect. He reminded the people that a film, `Mondi Mogudu-Penki Pellam' was made in the past, in which the heroine used Talangana dialect wholly. Bharani, whose surname is Tanikella, said his ancestors might have belonged to village Tanikella, as a result of which that had become their surname. Beyond this, he did not know how his family had acquired that name. He asserted that even if he were awarded Padmasree owing to his services to Telugu films and literature, he would not accept the national award. How could he accept the award when stars of yesteryears such as Savitri, SV Ranga Rao and Suryakantam had not been so honoured. Bharani did not aspire for the award. Even if it were to be given to him, he would reject it.
