AP Staff reluctant to move to Amaravati
Andhra Pradesh Secretariat employees on Friday told Chief Secretary Satya Prakash Tucker that they were not in a position to resume duties from the new capital of Amaravati, as the city lacked basic infrastructure facilities. This afternoon they met the Chief Secretary and told him that there were plenty of problems in Amaravati. Appealing for a postponement of the Secretariat shift, they said they would themselves go to Amaravati when the Secretariat building construction was complete at Velagapudi. Tucker told them that he would get back to them after informing the Chief Minister about their demand. The employees said if they were to go there now, their families would be inconvenienced. The government had already decided to start functioning in the new capital by the month-end. In Fact, the employees have been told to move lock, stock and barrel by the third week itself, shift their chairs and tables on their own but start functioning from the month-end.
