Malladi Krishna Rao (Cong) wins Yanam seat

Malladi Krishna Rao of the Congress won the assembly election from Yanam exclave for the fifth time in a row by defeating his nearest rival by a margin of 8754 votes in the Puducherry assembly elections. Talking to newsmen following his success, Malladi thanked the people for getting him elected. He said he would rededicate himself to the people's causes. He would ensure the development of Yanam, which is adjacent to Kakinada. In the Puducherrry elections, the Congress won 7 seats, the AINRC in 9 seats and the AIDMK in one seat. Former French colony, Puducherry joined the Indian union as a Union territory. It has four exclaves – Puducherry and Karaikal bound by Tamil Nadu, Yanam by AP and Mayyazhi (Mahe) by Kerala.
