Palair campaign ends on May 16

Hyderabad, May 14: The entire blitzkrieg of accusations and counter-accusations among the ruling TRS and Opposition Congress and Telugu Desam combine has come to grinding halt in Khammam district on Saturday with the campaign for Palair bye-poll came to an end. Even as the election as per Election Commission schedule will be held on May 16 and the counting followed by results announcement on 19, the war-like situation among politicos ended up throwing the responsibility onto the electors who will seal the fates of the contestants in the EVMs on the day of the election. While the TRS roped in Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, the Congress with a truck with Telugu Desam had roped in Sucharitha Reddy the widow of Ramreddy Venkat Reddy whose demise necessitated the by-poll. The irony is that the Telugu Desam which came into existence against the Congress had to go with it as it cannot take on the might of the ruling party which is on winning spree in each and every election held recently. It raised eye brows when the Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and TD’s Revanth Reddy and others together campaigned for Sucharitha Reddy. This became a sharp weapon for IT Minister KT Rama Rao, Tummala to nullify their candidature by apprising the people of failures of the previous governments that deserted Khammam and other districts as no irrigation projects were completed during their regime. The TRS top brass including KTR, Harish Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Jagadish Reddy, Mahender Reddy, E Dayakar Rao and other top leaders roped into Palair segment and turned it into a zone of political war. The top Congress leaders like Uttam, Jana Reddy, Mallu and others too tried to convince people to vote for their candidate. Both the TRS and Congress and TD combine were at their best to woo voters and took on each other by resorting to mud-slinging. As though, it seems that the TRS is set to clinch Palair segment in the by-poll as the people are likely to support the ruling party. Participate in election process: Dana Kishore In a related development, Khammam Collector and Election Returning Officer M Dana Kishore appealed to the electors of Palair segment to cast their votes. As the election is on May 16 the people of the segment should exercise their franchise without fail, he said. Participation of people in the voting process will rejuvenate the democratic process for development. In the wake of sunny days, all arrangements are made for smooth conduct of the elections including tents, drinking water, ORS pockets at the polling booths and security, he added.
