Pope tells bishops to care for `Love in the Family'
The Vatican has published new guidelines for greater understanding of family values and modern realities. The document, based on two Synods on the matter, has been eagerly awaited by the world's 1.3 billion Roman Catholic community. Titled `On love in the family', the document opens the way for bishops to interpret the doctrine according to the local values. They should be merciful towards the families, and not judgemental. Pope Francis has urged the bishops to exercise more care to `wounded families' and not to be judgemental. He blames individualism that has led many lives in the West to turn selfish over the needs of the spouse. Approving of birds and bees education, the Pope says it should be within the confines of edcation about love. It should educate the couples to realise what marriage involves. There should, therefore, be more understanding on the part of the bishops about human frailty.
