Intolerance of elected Prime Minister displayed

When the whole media debate on intolerance is being morphed day in day out, what can even Prime Minister Narendra Modi do about it? In a clear move to demean the Prime Minister in the public eye, a senior media journalist of a well-known English TV channel uploaded a morphed picture of the Prime Minister. He lifted the Prime Minister prostrating before senior BJP leader LK Advani and pasted it at the foot of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulla Azid Al Saud. It showed the Prime Minister touching the feet of the Saudi King, dumping all democratic values nurtured in the country. The result, Intolerance debaters got sufficient grist for their mills. Sooner than the English TV media, the people had realized that the Prime Minister with a fetish for designer clothes was not in the same dress when he met the Saudi King. The morphing was noticed and BJP technology wing chief Arvind Gupta reported the matter to the police. A case has been filed against Raghav Chopra. But the damage has been done. The morphed photo is, however, doing the rounds in the social media, only much faster. Interested netizens continue to express their shock. The CNN-IBN media journalist, Raghav Chopra, is now excusing himself that it was a matter of oversight. That he had not seen the source of the picture and simply posted it on website, without bothering about the implications for the billion Indians. No doubt English TV channels can get away with murder in India. Let us turn this round and find what would be the fate of a Saudi journalist doing the same against his King. Stoning, lashes, guillotine . . . under the Arabic law. Whether anyone likes it or not, India has always believed in tolerance. Om shantih, shantih shantihi.
