As Oppn protests, Pak JIT gets limited access to Pathankot
Even as the opposition parties, headed by the Aam Admi Party, were protesting against the visit of the five-member Joint Investigation Team of Pakistan to probe into the Pathankot airbase attack by terrorists from across the border, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday night that the Pak team would be allowed to tour only the designated areas. They would not be given freedom to go all over. Barricades have been put up at spots which are not allowed for the Pak team. The technical areas of the base have been out of bounds for the JIT. Officials have confirmed the Parrikar view. While the Pak team went into the airbase on Tuesday, the opposition parties waved black flags and protest banners outside the airbase. The protest banners listed the names of the Pak team members. The protesters included the Congress members in large numbers. Security forces meanwhile tightened the security for the Pak team. They had already met the National Investigation Team officials in Delhi on Monday. The team had arrived in Delhi on Sunday. In Pathankot, the Pak team is expected to examine 17 civilian witnesses. It is also expected to examine the `colourful' Pathankot Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh, who gave his car to the terrorists to go and attack the airbase.
