Poster boy Kanhaiya to campaign for left parties

Kanhaiya Kumar, JNU students union president, is confirmed as a poster boy of the left parties. After the CPM leader, Sitaram Yechury, has shown willingness to campaigning by Kanhaiya in West Bengal, the CPI too is putting much faith in the JNU students leader by taking him round Andhra pradesh. K. Naryana, CPI leader, on Friday said Kanhaiya was indeed a point of much discussion for his party. He said the left parties would achieve the upper hand in the coming elections to the five States. Kanhaiya being the poster boy of the left parties, he is very likely to be fielded for campaigning in the States. Narayana charged that the ruling parties (NDA) had a fear that the leftist forces were their principal enemy and hence started attacking them. Not only were the left parties prepared to take blows but would also return the blows in good measure, he added. Perhaps the CPI leader had the Sundarayya Kendram incident in mind when Goraksha samiti volunteers were involved in a fight with the Kanhaiya meeting organisers. He noted that the CPI had formed People's Welfare Front for the Tamil Nadu Assembly poll. A similar front was also in the making in West Bengal. As for AP, Narayana cited the issues as those raised by Kanhaiya Kumar, Amaravati real estate, resignation by HCU Vice-Chancellor Apparao and sand quarrying.
