Chandrababu demands fulfillment of all promises made in AP Reorganisation Bill/Act

The division of the combined Andhra Pradesh was not done properly, AP chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said in the State Assembly on Wednesday. Moving a motion on the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Bill/Act, the Chief Minister listed 18 points seeking resolution. He said all the promises must be fulfilled. The Centre should expedite the implementation of the promises. National status for the Polavaram project is clearly there among the promises, he added. Chandrababu said the neighbouring States had metro cities, only AP lacked a metro city. The Centre should therefore give funds for the capital construction and cooperate with the State government. Presidential orders in this regard have to be reviewed, he added. At the Central level, however, the Congress has hotted up the AP Reorganisation Bill/Act provisions. It is demanding the Special Category Status for the State and fulfillment of all the promises made by the Manmohan Singh government. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government has pointed out that the Congress had played a mischief between the AP Reorganisation Bill and the subsequent Act by deleting Special Category Status in the Act. The Presidential orders, therefore, need to be reviewed and the Special Category Status reincorporated to do justice to the State, as demanded by the Congess now.
